Hushan Reservoir

Hushan Reservoir sits in Yunlin County and supplies water to the surrounding region through a dam that spans the valley floor. The basin collects water from the nearby hills and stores it for agriculture and industry in the plains below.

Construction began in the early 2010s as a response to growing water needs in the area. The project was completed after several years of work and has since supplied the surrounding counties.

Local concerns regarding water resource distribution have sparked debates between Yunlin and Chiayi counties over industrial water allocation.

A personal vehicle is needed, as public transport serves the area only in a limited way. Roads around the reservoir tend to be quiet and offer viewpoints at several spots along the shoreline.

Floating solar panels cover part of the water surface and generate power while reducing evaporation at the same time. This installation is among the larger floating solar arrays in Taiwan.
