Douliu Hushan Temple

Douliu Hushan Temple is a Buddhist temple complex in Douliu, Taiwan, that includes a sculpture park with various artworks arranged across the grounds. The site features mountainside positioning and water features that create a natural setting for the religious structures.

The temple was founded in 1725 during the Qianlong Emperor period as a shrine to Guanyin Bodhisattva. Over time it grew to become a major religious center in the region.

The temple serves as a gathering place during Buddha's birthday celebrations in the fourth lunar month, when traditional ceremonies and local observances draw many visitors. You can experience how the community uses the site for religious practice and communal worship.

The site is accessible by the Douliu-Gukeng shuttle bus service, which provides regular transportation to the temple. Wear comfortable walking shoes since the grounds involve paths at various elevations.

A 150-meter tall golden statue of Maitreya Buddha stands on the hilltop and can be seen from downtown Douliu and surrounding areas. This distinctive figure serves as a landmark that marks the temple's location.
