Korsun-Shevchenkivskyi

Korsun-Shevchenkivskyi is a city in Cherkasy Oblast situated along the Ros River. The center has several museums, a railway station, and factories producing building materials and machinery.

Prince Yaroslav the Wise founded the fortress of Korsun in 1032 to defend Kyiv against nomadic raids. This establishment marked the start of human settlement in the area.

The city honors two important artists through dedicated museums and memorials: writer Ivan Nechui-Levytsky and composer Kyrylo Stetsenko are remembered here. These spaces show how the community values its artistic heritage and celebrates figures who shaped regional culture.

The city is accessible by railway station on the Kyiv-Zvitkovo line. Since it is an industrial center, early morning or late afternoon hours tend to offer a quieter experience for walking around.

The Lopukhin-Demydov palace complex built in 1782 features a park with stone bridges and sculptures spread across several islands in the Ros River. This architectural ensemble provides an unexpected contrast to the industrial character of the modern city.
