Petrivka, Rural community in Velykyi Buyalyk municipality, Ukraine.
Petrivka is a small settlement in Velykyi Buyalyk municipality, within the Berezivka Raion of southern Ukraine. The village is set in flat farming land and consists mainly of residential houses, a community building, and cultivated fields on its outskirts.
Petrivka was part of Ivanivka Raion until Ukraine carried out a nationwide administrative reform in 2020 and reassigned it to Berezivka Raion. That reform merged many smaller districts across the country into larger units.
The name Petrivka comes from the Ukrainian given name Petro, a common root for village names across the country. Smallholdings with kitchen gardens are a visible part of daily life here, reflecting how closely tied the community remains to the land.
The settlement is small enough to walk through in a short time, with most of its buildings found along the main road. Coming during daytime is a good idea, since local facilities are limited and there is little to find in the evening.
Irrigation channels dug during the Soviet period still run through the fields around the village and continue to be used for crop watering today. They were originally built to serve collective farms but now supply water to privately owned plots.
