Merheleva Ridge

The archaeological complex spans three-quarters of a square mile and contains four large stone mounds called kurgans on a hill with stepped formations.

The site dates back to 4000 BC during the Dnieper-Donets and Yamna cultures, remaining active through the Bronze Age until the fifth century BC.

Archaeological findings at the site reveal ceremonial practices, including temples and ritual sacrifices, indicating advanced social structures among early European agricultural societies.

The location, situated 30 kilometers from Luhansk, requires verification of access conditions due to limited visitor information and ongoing archaeological research.

School children participating in an archaeology camp led by teacher Vladimir Paramonov discovered the site in 2004, leading to extensive scientific investigations.
