Saint George Church is an Orthodox church building in Alchevsk with red brick walls, white stone details, and five Byzantine-style domes arranged in a Greek cross layout. Four square towers stand at the corners of the structure, defining its distinctive architectural profile.

Construction began in 1897 following designs by a Viennese architect and was completed in 1901. This project reflected the city's growth during that period, as the local community established a major religious center.

The interior features a four-level iconostasis created in Vienna in 1900, with colorful decorations designed by a Viennese artist in 1902. These ornate religious elements show the congregation's commitment to bringing skilled European craftsmanship to their new church.

The church is most easily reached on foot from downtown, and its five domes are visible from several directions across the city. The distinctive red brick facade and four corner towers make it recognizable from a distance and serve as useful landmarks.
