Shore Battery No. 30, Coastal artillery fortress in Sevastopol.

Shore Battery No. 30 contains two twin gun turrets equipped with four 30.5 cm guns positioned along the Black Sea coastline at strategic coordinates.

The fortress, constructed between 1912 and 1929, remained operational during World War II until June 17, 1942, when its crew had to demolish it after running out of ammunition.

The battery received its name from Soviet author Maxim Gorky and appeared in the 1968 Soviet film 'Sea on Fire' during its last recorded firing exercise.

The fortification remained in military service until 1997, when authorities placed it in a mothballed state that allows for potential restoration within a short timeframe.

The guns used in the post-war restoration came from the battleship Frunze, integrating naval artillery into this land-based defensive position.
