Bandinelli Palace, Renaissance townhouse at Market Square, Ukraine
Bandinelli Palace is a Renaissance townhouse located on Market Square in Lviv. The building displays a symmetrical facade of stone with decorative cornices positioned above rectangular windows, showcasing the architectural style of this period.
Roberto Bandinelli, a merchant from Florence, acquired the building in 1634 and established the first post office in eastern Galicia there. This made the building an important hub for regional communications during the 1600s.
The ground floor once housed a bookshop that drew writers and intellectuals during the 1800s, making it a meeting place for the city's literary community. People gathered here to discuss ideas and share new works in an informal setting.
The palace is centrally located on Market Square and easy to reach on foot. Visitors can best appreciate the facade by viewing it from the square itself, especially during daylight hours.
A mint workshop operated in the building's courtyard during the Thirty Years' War after relocating from Krakow. This facility produced currency for the entire region during that conflict.
