Church of the Saviour at Berestove
Church of the Saviour at Berestove, Orthodox church in Berestove district, Kyiv, Ukraine.
The church features three naves, three apses, and multiple domes, combining Byzantine architectural elements with Ukrainian Baroque structural designs.
Built during the reign of Vladimir Monomakh between 1113 and 1125, the church endured significant damage during the Mongol invasion of 1240.
The western wall contains preserved frescoes from the 12th century, discovered during a 1909 cleaning operation of the building's facade.
The structure opens for weekly services each Sunday and maintains guided tours throughout the remainder of the week for visitors.
The foundation investigations between 2001 and 2004 revealed construction techniques from the 11th century, including specific masonry patterns.
