The National Kyiv-Pechersk Historical and Cultural Reserve spans across extensive grounds featuring monasteries, churches, museums, and underground cave systems near the Dnipro River.
The monastery complex originated in 1051 when monks established their first settlement in the caves, as documented in the ancient chronicle Tale of Bygone Years.
The reserve contains multiple specialized institutions, including the Museum of Historical Treasures, Museum of Theatre, Museum of Books, and Museum of Ukrainian Folk Art.
The reserve welcomes visitors daily from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with last entry at 5:00 PM, offering access to both permanent exhibitions and underground cave networks.
The underground labyrinth system, used for seven centuries as burial grounds, contains preserved bodies of Orthodox monks in its ancient chambers.
