Theodosius of the Caves monastery

Theodosius of the Caves is an 11th-century Orthodox monastery that extends deep underground beneath Kyiv through an intricate system of excavated chambers. The cave network contains interconnected chapels, monks' cells, and religious spaces carved into the hillside.

Saint Theodosius founded this monastery in the mid-11th century, establishing it as a major spiritual center for early Kyivan Christianity. The site became influential in spreading monastic traditions and Orthodox practices throughout the region.
