Museum of Historical Treasures of Ukraine

The Museum of Historical Treasures of Ukraine is located in the Kovnir building within the Kyiv-Pechersk Reserve and displays approximately 56,000 artifacts made from precious metals and stones. The objects span different historical periods and are organized in specialized rooms according to distinct eras.

The museum was founded in 1969 as part of the Historical Museum of the Ukrainian SSR and preserves archaeological discoveries from Cimmerians, Scythians, and Sarmatians. This collection documents important cultures that inhabited the region over centuries.

The collection displays works by Kyivan Rus craftspeople, including religious items, altar crosses, and ceremonial vessels from different periods. You can see how metalworking traditions developed over time and what people valued in their sacred objects.

The museum is located within the Kyiv-Pechersk complex, where you can visit several other sites in the same area. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended since the pathways slope gently.

The gold pectoral from the Thick Tomb ranks among the most valuable Scythian finds and demonstrates the remarkable craftsmanship of ancient artisans. This piece stands out for its size and the fine details carved into its surface.
