Great Lavra Bell Tower, Bell tower at Kyiv Pechersk Lavra, Ukraine

The Great Lavra Bell Tower rises 96.5 meters high with four tiers decorated by Dorian, Ionic, and Corinthian columns against the Kyiv skyline.

Construction of this Neoclassical bell tower began in 1731 and reached completion in 1745, funded by Cossack leader Ivan Mazepa.

The tower contains three bells from the 18th century, including the Uspenskyi bell cast by Ivan Motorin, who created Moscow's Tsar Bell.

Visitors can access the observation platform on the third tier for views of Kyiv, while the fourth level houses a 4.5-ton clock from 1903.

The tower walls measure 8 meters thick at the base, with foundations extending 7 meters into the ground to support its massive structure.

These buildings span several centuries of architectural innovation and serve various functions: religious structures like the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque or the Basilica of Our Lady of Peace in Côte d'Ivoire, civil buildings such as Oxford's Radcliffe Camera or the Australian Exhibition Palace, and even thermal spas like Budapest’s Széchenyi Baths.
