Катеринославська суконна фабрика

The Yekaterinoslav Cloth Factory is an industrial textile plant in Dnipro distinguished by a central structure with ten Greek Doric columns framing its classical Russian design. The portico connects two floors and demonstrates the careful architectural approach applied to industrial buildings of that era.

Construction began in the late 18th century under Field Marshal Prince Potemkin's direction as a major textile production venture. The facility ceased manufacturing in the early 19th century, after which its buildings were converted to serve railroad administration and storage purposes.

The factory gained renown for producing textiles of such high quality that imperial uniforms were made from its cloth. This reputation established it as a significant textile center in the region.

The site is accessible to visitors who want to explore the preserved industrial complex and observe its historical architecture. It is best viewed from the exterior to fully appreciate the classical facade and its distinctive columned design.

The facility attracted workers from distant regions including Moscow, Belarus, and Lithuania, who settled permanently in the area. This migration led to the establishment of additional wool processing operations near the Mokra Sura river.
