Karachunivka Reservoir, Water reservoir in Kryvyi Rih Raion, Ukraine
The Karachunivka Reservoir spans 26.9 square kilometers, forming a substantial water source within the Dnieper basin near the Inhulets River.
The reservoir emerged from Soviet-era infrastructure development programs aimed at supporting water management and agricultural needs in the Kryvyi Rih region.
Local residents maintain connections to the reservoir through fishing traditions, water sports activities, and seasonal celebrations along its shores.
The Sofiivka Inter-regional Agency manages water distribution from the reservoir, supporting irrigation systems and municipal water supplies in surrounding communities.
Military actions in 2022 resulted in structural damage to the reservoir's dam, causing significant flooding and environmental changes in the Inhulets River basin.
