Vvedenskyi Monastery, Orthodox monastery in Kyiv, Ukraine
Vvedenskyi Monastery is an Orthodox religious community in Kyiv featuring traditional Byzantine design with white stone walls and multiple domes topped with crosses. The complex includes a main church building, bell tower, and supporting structures arranged around a central courtyard.
Founded in 1877 by widow Matron Yegorov, this monastery began as a women's religious community and gained official approval from Metropolitan Philotheus of Kyiv. The Soviet period brought decades of closure before its restoration and reopening in 1996 marked a turning point in its modern history.
The monastery serves as an active gathering place where the Orthodox community comes together for daily worship and spiritual practice. Its white walls and distinctive domes create a recognizable landmark in the neighborhood that draws people seeking connection to their faith.
Visitors can attend daily prayer services held at the monastery throughout the week. It is helpful to check local visiting hours beforehand and dress modestly to respect the religious setting and community practices.
The monastery houses the Tikhvin Icon of the Mother of God, which holds deep spiritual significance in Orthodox tradition. This sacred image draws pilgrims who come to venerate it and practice their devotion in person.
