Church of the Holy Trinity, Novomoskovsk

The Church of the Holy Trinity in Novomoskovsk is a wooden Baroque structure with elaborate architectural details assembled without metal nails. The building features traditional construction methods and stands next to a cemetery with tombstones from the early 1800s.

Local Cossacks built the structure between 1775 and 1778, replacing an earlier stone building that displayed Russian-Byzantine features. This construction marks a turning point in the architectural traditions of the region during the late 1700s.
