Khomytovs'ka steppe

The protected steppe extends across 1,030 hectares near the Azov Sea coast, featuring rolling plains and valleys along the Hruzky Yelanchyk River.

The Mariupol District Executive Committee established this conservation area in 1926, later upgrading it to a national nature reserve in 1947.

The reserve includes a museum displaying seasonal exhibits of local flora and fauna throughout four distinct sections representing spring, summer, autumn, and winter.

The territory contains 604 flowering plant species, 190 bird species, and numerous mammals, making it a center for scientific research and biodiversity conservation.

Ninety hectares of the reserve remain completely untouched by human activity, preserving the original steppe ecosystem without any agricultural interference.
