Shukhov tower Mykolajiw

The Shukhov Tower in Mykolaiv is a water tower standing 32 meters tall with a distinctive hyperboloid form on Ryumina Street. Straight metal segments arranged in a geometric pattern create the structure while it continues to serve the city's water distribution system.

Vladimir Shukhov designed and built this innovative structure in 1907, applying advanced mathematical principles to solve water distribution needs. The project demonstrated how industrial requirements could be met with novel construction methods.

The tower shows how industrial cities of that era valued both practical engineering and artistic expression in public structures. It represents a time when utility and beauty were seen as natural partners in urban design.

The tower is easily visible from Ryumina Street and can be viewed from outside to appreciate its geometric form from different angles. Walking around the structure helps you understand how the straight lines create the overall shape.
