The monument was constructed in 1988 through the collaborative efforts of sculptor Yuriy Makushin and architect O.P. Popova to commemorate the Russian poet.
The statue received designation as a Monument of monumental art of Ukraine of local importance, marking its significance in the regional heritage.
Located at coordinates 46.978094 latitude and 31.987909 longitude, the monument was accessible to visitors until its removal in May 2022.
The monument was dismantled during the 2022 derussification process in Ukraine, reflecting changing cultural perspectives in the region.
