Kharkiv TV Tower is a steel structure rising 240.7 meters above the city with truss frameworks and broadcasting equipment integrated throughout its design. The tower was built as a central transmission point to send radio and television signals across the entire region.
The tower was completed in 1981 and served as the primary broadcasting hub for the city and surrounding region until 2024. A missile strike damaged the upper section significantly and altered its role in the regional broadcasting network.
The tower represents a central element of Kharkiv's media infrastructure, enabling television and radio broadcasts for millions of residents in the region.
The structure sits in the northeastern part of the city in an industrial zone visible from nearby streets. Access may vary depending on the local security situation and conditions on the ground.
The tower's pilot received direct hits from eight FAB-500 bombs during a 2022 airstrike, yet continued broadcasting until the 2024 missile impact.
