Castle Białym Kamieniu is a medieval fortress ruin with an elliptical layout surrounded by forested hills. The structure contains two defensive towers, a gate tower with drawbridge remains, and preserved sections of the encircling fortification wall.
The fortress first appeared in written records in 1271 during an attack by Czech King Přemysl Otakar II. on this strategically important site. Over the centuries it changed hands multiple times until the early 1600s when it was eventually abandoned.
The castle shows how medieval people lived and protected themselves at this location. The ruins reveal the way defensive structures were built and arranged during that era.
The site sits among forested hills and is accessible on foot, though sturdy shoes are recommended for the terrain. Visitors should plan enough time to explore the different towers and wall sections while enjoying the surrounding natural setting.
After Štefan Ilešházy left this place in 1609 to move to a Renaissance palace, the fortress gradually fell into disrepair. The location of that palace remains unknown to many visitors today, even though it marked a turning point in this site's history.
