St. George church in Sedniv

St. George is a wooden church in Sedniv with three domes and intricate wood carvings on its exterior and interior surfaces. The building has a multi-part composition with stacked roof sections and consistently decorated timber throughout.

The church was built in 1747 on a site where an older stone structure once stood. It served as a spiritual center for the Cossacks of the Chernihiv Regiment and became important to the local community.

The church displays Ukrainian Baroque forms with its characteristic wooden ornaments and multi-level structure. Visitors can see the craftsmanship tradition in every carved detail and in how the spaces are arranged inside.

The church is located on Kozatska Street about a kilometer from central Sedniv and is easy to reach on foot. It is administered by the Orthodox Church of Ukraine and welcomes visitors during regular service times.

The entire wooden structure was assembled without a single metal nail, displaying extraordinary carpentry skill. This building method allowed the church to survive more than 270 years while maintaining its original form.
