National Nature Park Skolivski Beskydy, National park in Sambir Raion, Ukraine
The National Nature Park Skolivski Beskydy spreads across forests, meadows, and wetland areas where the Carpathian Mountains meet the East European Plain. The terrain changes with elevation, creating different habitats and supporting a range of plant and animal life.
The park was officially established in 2004 through a presidential decree to protect the natural landscapes of the Ukrainian Carpathians. This decision marked an important effort to safeguard the region's forest and mountain ecosystems.
The trails here show how local communities have lived with these mountains for generations and shaped the land through their daily practices. Walking through, you notice how traditional ways remain woven into how people use and care for the environment.
Marked trails with different difficulty levels let you choose routes suited to your fitness level and interests. Before visiting, check which paths are currently passable and what gear you might need depending on the season.
The park contains 45 plant species and 37 animal species listed in the Red Book of Ukraine, many protected under European conservation agreements. This concentration of at-risk species makes it one of the region's most important refuges for biodiversity.
