Ustymivskyi Arboretum

Ustymivskyi Arboretum is a collection of trees and shrubs spanning about 9 hectares, organized into different plant groupings with thousands of species. The sections connect through walking paths that let visitors move between the various plant collections at their own pace.

The arboretum began in 1893 as a center for plant research and conservation. Over more than a century, it has maintained its purpose of studying and preserving botanical collections.

The grounds feature plants that appear throughout Ukrainian traditions and everyday life, such as native shrubs tied to local customs. Walking through these sections, visitors notice how certain species have shaped the region's botanical identity over time.

The site is best explored on foot, with marked trails connecting the different plant sections. It helps to allow adequate time for your visit, as the grounds cover significant distances and different walking speeds are needed to see the collections.

Scientists at the site study how different plant species respond to local climate shifts and show their adaptive abilities through the seasons. This research helps reveal which species can survive in changing conditions.
