Свято-Олександро-Невський храм

The Alexander Nevsky Temple is an Orthodox house of prayer built in Russian Revival style, featuring restored domes and white walls located beside Kharkiv's medical facilities. Its design reflects traditional Orthodox architectural elements combined with early 20th century aesthetics.

The temple was completed in 1907 under architect Mikhail Lovtsov's design and built with support from wealthy Kharkiv residents. Soviet authorities closed it in 1920, leading to its conversion into storage spaces for the neighboring hospital's records.

This temple served as a spiritual refuge for the hospital staff and patients nearby, offering them a place for personal prayer and faith. Its presence shaped how people experienced the medical complex around it, blending religious life with healthcare.

The temple is located on Akademika Pavlova Street and welcomes visitors for prayer and reflection, with sufficient space inside for groups. Its position beside medical facilities makes it easy to find and accessible for most people.

The interior underwent dramatic changes when Soviet officials converted it into a storage facility for hospital records, replacing the distinctive dome with a gabled roof to conceal its original purpose. This transformation masked the building's spiritual function for decades.
