Сырецкий гай, Protected area in northwestern Kyiv, Ukraine.
Syretskyi Hai is a protected area in northwestern Kyiv that spans around 194 hectares of land covered by ancient oak forests, pine stands, and several lakes. The Syrets River and tributary streams run through the territory, creating an interconnected water system within this protected landscape.
The area received official protected status in 1972 based on natural forest stands that had developed since the 1950s. The park boundaries were adjusted later to better preserve its most valuable sections.
The area attracts walkers and nature watchers who come to see the old oak trees and water bodies that shape its character. Visitors can observe local bird species and forest ecosystems as part of their experience here.
The protected area is accessible from several entrances, and its proximity to Syrets metro station makes it easy to reach. Bus route 410 connects the reserve to other parts of the city.
The reserve contains oak trees that are several hundred years old and bear witness to the natural history of the region. These ancient trees combined with the river water system create distinctive valley landscapes that are uncommon in urban settings.
