Derkulskyi horse farm, Horse stud farm in Danylivka, Ukraine.
Derkulskyi is a horse stud farm spread across multiple buildings that house stables, training facilities, and a specialized riding arena with Japanese design. The complex includes separate areas for breeding stock, young horses in training, and riding instruction for visitors.
Founded in 1765, this is Ukraine's oldest horse establishment with roots stretching back more than 250 years. Throughout its long existence, it has adapted to different eras and witnessed major shifts in how horses have been bred and trained in the region.
The farm shows how horses have been central to rural life here, and visitors walking through the barns and paddocks get a sense of the daily care and attention that has always gone into their breeding.
Tours must be arranged in advance as the facility is not open for walk-in visitors and activities like feeding or riding lessons need to be scheduled. It helps to check what programs are offered and allow a few hours for your visit since there is much ground to cover.
The older stable buildings show construction traces from several centuries, with each layer revealing choices made in different eras. This allows visitors to see how the requirements for horse facilities changed over generations and adapted to new knowledge.
