Church of the Ascension

The Ascension Church features stone walls, multiple domes, and traditional Orthodox architectural elements that characterize religious structures in the Chernihiv region.

The initial wooden structure from 1781 was replaced by a stone temple in 1913, following the architectural patterns common in the Russian Empire.

The church served as a central gathering place for the local community until 1930, when Soviet authorities repurposed it into a storage facility.

Religious services resumed in 1988, allowing visitors to attend Orthodox ceremonies and observe traditional ecclesiastical architecture of northern Ukraine.

During the 2022 Russian invasion, the church endured substantial structural damage when military forces used it as an ammunition storage facility.
