The chestnut tree alley spans one kilometer through Poltava, containing 400 trees across four hectares of protected natural space.
Students from a local high school planted 300 chestnut trees in 1913 to mark the 300th anniversary of the Romanov dynasty.
The tree arrangement follows the path where soldiers under Peter I moved from west to east to meet Poltava fortress defenders.
The walking trail extends for 3.4 kilometers with a mild elevation gain of 16 meters, making it accessible for pedestrians of all abilities.
The site received official status as a botanical nature memorial in 1970, preserving its environmental and historical importance for future generations.
