Охтирський Свято — Троїцький монастир

The Holy Trinity Monastery sits on elevated ground of an ancient settlement and contains multiple church buildings, a bell tower, and monastic quarters enclosed by stone walls. The complex centers on the Trinity Cathedral, which serves as the focal point of the entire religious compound.

The monastery was founded in 1654 by forty monks from the Lebedinsky Trinity Monastery under the leadership of Igumen Ioannikiy. It was originally called the Annunciation Monastery before eventually adopting its current name devoted to the Holy Trinity.

The monastery preserves Orthodox traditions that shape daily life here, visible in the chanting during services and the rhythms of monastic routines. Visitors can observe how prayer and religious ceremony structure the community's day-to-day existence.

The monastery sits on elevated terrain that is accessible by foot and remains open to visitors throughout the year. Visitors should wear respectful clothing and be mindful of prayer times and religious activities during their visit.

The bell tower from the first half of the 1700s is a rare example of fortified monastery architecture, showing how religious communities of that era had to defend themselves against threats. This defensive design sets it apart from many other religious sites in the region.
