Parkhomivka History and Arts Museum, Arts and history museum in Parkhomivka village, Ukraine
The Parkhomivka History and Arts Museum is an art and history museum in the village of Parkhomivka, Bohodukhiv Raion, Ukraine, housed in a restored manor building with several exhibition halls. The collection covers paintings, historical objects, and archaeological finds from different periods.
The museum was started in 1955 by a local history teacher who began gathering objects for a school collection. It received official state recognition in 1986, which marked its transition from a school project to a public institution.
The museum displays paintings by Ukrainian artists alongside icons and works from abroad that one would rarely expect to find in a village setting. Walking through the halls, visitors can notice how wide-ranging the collection is.
The museum is located in the village of Parkhomivka in Bohodukhiv Raion and is most easily reached by car from the nearest larger town. It is worth checking opening conditions before you travel, as they may vary.
The collection grew in part through loans and donations from institutions such as the Hermitage and the Dresden Gallery, which is rare for a village museum. Some of these works are on permanent display here and would otherwise only be seen in major city museums.
