Pinewood Studios

Pinewood Studios is a film studio in Iver, England, where movie projects take shape in large halls and technical facilities. The complex spreads over several locations and connects indoor and outdoor spaces for shooting of all kinds.

The studio was built in 1935 on the grounds of Heatherden Hall when the British film industry was looking for larger production facilities. Over the following decades many international productions filmed here and led to repeated expansions of the site.

The name comes from the pine forests that once surrounded the grounds before stages and buildings took over the site. Today hundreds of film professionals work inside the halls and use workshops for set construction, props and costumes.

The grounds are extensive and only accessible through guided tours because active filming regularly occupies the areas. Information on visiting options should be checked in advance since production schedules change at short notice.

An underwater filming stage allows complex diving scenes that would be difficult to achieve in regular tanks. This facility attracts productions that need special technical solutions for their shoots.
