Bordesley Abbey

Bordesley Abbey is a Cistercian monastery ruin situated along the River Arrow that displays the typical structural layout of religious communities of that order. The remains include sections of living quarters, workspaces, and a network of water channels that connected different parts of the complex.

The site was founded in 1138 and operated as a monastic community for over 400 years until 1538 when the English monarchy ordered its closure. This closure was part of a nationwide campaign that transformed the landscape and economy of England.
