Wyre and Preston North, Parliamentary constituency in the United Kingdom, 2010 onwards
Wyre and Preston North is a parliamentary constituency in Lancashire county. The area includes parts of Preston such as Fulwood, several town centers like Poulton-le-Fylde and Garstang, plus rural villages spread across mixed landscape with farms, open fields, and built-up zones.
The constituency was created in 2010 through boundary changes to better represent the local population in parliament. After a review in 2023, the area was dissolved and its parts were merged into neighboring constituencies from 2024 onward.
The name comes from the rivers and towns that shape the area. This place is valued by its residents for combining village tradition with access to town amenities, visible in local markets and community events throughout the year.
The area is well served by train stations and bus routes, especially at Poulton-le-Fylde and Garstang. Visitors should note that rural zones are quieter and services are more spread out beyond town centers.
Ben Wallace, the final MP for this seat, was known for serving as Defence Secretary before stepping down from the 2024 election. His departure marked the end of a significant political chapter just before the constituency itself ceased to exist.
