Seaview Terrace

Seaview Terrace is a Châteauesque mansion in Newport built between 1923 and 1925 with 29 bedrooms, 18 bathrooms, and 10 fireplaces set on grounds overlooking the Atlantic. The residence incorporates European architectural details throughout its interior and exterior design.

The mansion was commissioned by Edson Bradley Jr., president of a whiskey company, and built from 1923 to 1925. Bradley sourced architectural elements from his former Washington, D.C. residence to shape the design of his Newport home.

The mansion gained fame as the exterior setting for Collinwood Mansion in the television series Dark Shadows, which aired in the late 1960s and early 1970s. This television connection continues to draw visitors interested in classic horror storytelling.

The location sits on Newport's coastline and is best accessed on foot if you plan to explore the surrounding area. Plan enough time to see both the interior and exterior grounds, particularly if you wish to photograph different parts of the property in good light.

The Great Hall contains a whispering gallery, an architectural feature that allows sound to travel in unexpected ways across the space. The building also houses a stained glass window from the 16th century that was originally created for Milan's cathedral.
