Garfield County spans across 1,060 square miles of land and water, with Enid serving as its county seat and largest population center.

The county emerged from the Cherokee Outlet during the 1893 Land Run and received its name in honor of President James A. Garfield.

The region maintains strong agricultural traditions centered on wheat production, earning Enid the designation as the Wheat Capital of Oklahoma.

The county provides governmental services to 62,846 residents through offices located in the Garfield County Courthouse in downtown Enid.
