Grant County

Grant County is an administrative division in northern Kentucky spanning approximately 261 square miles within the Cincinnati metropolitan area. The terrain combines suburban developments with rural farmland and smaller towns.

The county was established on February 12, 1820, taking its name from Colonel John Grant who had founded Grant's Station in 1779. That earlier settlement in Bourbon County became the namesake for this newly formed administrative region.

The county's schools, particularly Grant County High School, serve as gathering places where residents connect and participate in local events. These institutions reflect the close-knit nature of the community.

Williamstown serves as the county seat and houses the judicial center completed in 2010, where most administrative services are located. Visitors can access these central facilities and move around the broader county relatively easily.

In 1975, multiple residents reported sightings of unidentified flying objects near Williamstown Lake, sparking local conversation. These events remain part of the area's oral history.
