Park Ridge, Suburban city in Cook County, Illinois, United States
Park Ridge is a city in Cook County, Illinois, located about 10 miles northwest of downtown Chicago and adjacent to O'Hare International Airport. The area covers around 7.14 square miles and features residential blocks with single and multifamily homes, commercial streets, and small green spaces along narrow creeks.
The settlement was first known as Pennyville and changed to Brickton in 1854 when a brickyard opened. In 1873 the community took the name Park Ridge and incorporated as a separate municipality.
The Pickwick Theatre, constructed in 1928, stands as an Art Deco monument in the city center and continues to present films and performances.
Two Metra stations connect the city to downtown Chicago with a journey of about half an hour. Buses run to surrounding suburbs and destinations across Cook County.
Maine South High School was where Hillary Clinton and actor Harrison Ford studied, long before either became well known. Both graduated from the school in the 1960s and later moved to other parts of the country.
