GateKeeper, Wing coaster at Cedar Point, US
GateKeeper is a steel roller coaster at Cedar Point in Ohio where riders sit on the outside of the track as they travel through six inversions. The layout spans 4164 feet and includes several loops that pass close to structures around the park entrance.
The installation opened in May 2013 where two former attractions once stood and required eight months to build. It set several records for this type of coaster when it began operating.
This installation marked a milestone in American amusement parks as the fifth Wing Coaster worldwide and established new records for height and speed.
The ride accepts passengers between 52 and 78 inches (132 to 198 centimeters) tall and can carry up to 1710 people each hour. Three trains with eight cars each keep the line moving steadily throughout the park operating day.
The coaster reaches 67 miles per hour (108 kilometers per hour) and features a 170-foot (52-meter) Wing Over Drop element. Riders in the outer seats pass within a few feet of the main entrance gate structure during part of the course.
