LIU Post, Private university in Brookville, New York, US
LIU Post is a college in Brookville on Long Island in New York State. The grounds spread across wooded hills and open lawns with study halls, sports venues, and art workshops.
The college opened in 1954 on the grounds of the former Hillwood estate owned by Marjorie Merriweather Post. Her family had acquired the property in the early 20th century and built a private country residence.
The name honors the Post family, whose former estate now serves as campus grounds. Visitors can trace the transition from private residence to academic space, with some buildings preserving the original architecture.
The institution sits about 25 miles (40 km) east of Manhattan and is easiest to reach by car. Main buildings are located in the center of the grounds, while sports fields and stables are spread toward the edges.
Part of the campus includes equestrian facilities with training grounds and stables for horses. This facility is the only one of its kind at an educational institution in the Long Island region.
