Cobscook Bay State Park, State park near Dennysville, United States.
Cobscook Bay State Park is an 888-acre park on a bay in Maine with roughly 106 campsites spread along the shoreline. The grounds offer direct water access and forest paths that wind through the natural landscape.
The park received its official status in 1964 through a long-term agreement between the state of Maine and local authorities. This arrangement established it as a public recreation area.
The name Cobscook comes from the Maliseet-Passamaquoddy language and refers to the strong tidal forces that shape the bay's character. Visitors can observe these powerful water movements throughout the day and understand why indigenous peoples chose this name for the place.
Visitors can reserve campsites from May through October with accommodations for tents and recreational vehicles up to about 40 feet long. The grounds are well equipped with parking and basic facilities to support a comfortable stay.
The bay experiences extreme tidal swings reaching up to about 28 feet, creating unusual water conditions. These extremes support over 200 bird species that rely on the unique habitats created by these tidal forces.
