Ashland

Ashland sits on the shores of Lake Superior, stretching across Ashland and Bayfield counties at an elevation of about 205 meters (673 feet). The downtown area features many buildings from the Victorian era that still stand today, giving the city its historic character.

This place grew as a major center for logging during the 1800s, which led to the construction of many Victorian-style buildings that still stand today. That period of timber industry activity shaped what the city became.

The bay nearby hosts nearly 300 different bird species, making it a remarkable spot for anyone interested in watching birds throughout the year. The same waters are also known for good smallmouth bass fishing in different seasons.
