80 South Street, Unfinished skyscraper in Financial District, Manhattan, US.
80 South Street is an incomplete skyscraper at the southern tip of Manhattan standing 438 meters tall with 113 planned floors. The structure features a distinctive design composed of stacked cubic forms rising above a solid eight-story base.
The project was unveiled in 2003 with an innovative design and received construction approval in 2005, but economic conditions led to cancellation before its planned 2008 completion. A Chinese company acquired the property in 2016 with redesign plans, but financial obstacles prevented execution.
The six-story red brick building currently occupying the site has served as a filming location for television productions, including the AMC series Rubicon.
The site is easily accessible by public transit in the Financial District and offers views of Manhattan's southern tip. The incomplete structure is visible from outside, but interior access is not permitted.
The original concept featured ten luxury residences, each spanning approximately 10,000 square meters of living space. These units were envisioned as among the most exclusive residential offerings in New York.
