Beaver Brook Reservation

Beaver Brook Reservation is a nature reserve in Belmont featuring open fields, woodlands, ponds, and a waterfall spread across 59 acres. The landscape combines varied terrain and habitats within a relatively compact area accessible to visitors.

The reservation was established in 1893 by the Department of Conservation and Recreation as the first property of Massachusetts' Metropolitan Parks System. This early founding marked an important step in creating protected green spaces across the region.

Two free parking areas provide convenient access, and pathways throughout the grounds guide visitors to different sections. Basketball courts, tennis courts, playgrounds, and restrooms are available on site for various activities.

The pathways and footbridges were designed by the Olmsted firm, landscape architects who shaped numerous American parks. These design elements represent early park planning that set standards for the region.
