Queens Zoo, Wildlife park in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park, United States

The Queens Zoo is a facility featuring native North American animals such as pumas, bison, bears, eagles, and sea lions living in naturalistic habitats. These animals are displayed in recreated environments that mimic their original homes.

This facility opened in 1968 and later underwent a major redesign that completely transformed the animal enclosures. That overhaul shaped the current layout and modern design we see today.

The zoo serves as a learning space for school groups and families across New York who want to observe animals up close and understand their needs. Visitors often return multiple times to see how the animals behave throughout different seasons.

Plan to spend a few hours exploring since the zoo is spread across multiple zones. The enclosures are at different elevations, so comfortable shoes are recommended for walking through the grounds.

A large glass dome originally built for an international exposition in the 1960s now houses multiple bird species in a temperature-controlled setting. Visitors immediately spot this recognizable structure when entering the grounds.
