Robert Allison purchased the land in 1868, and natural springs shaped early settlement patterns. The community developed into a residential area east of San Diego by the late 19th century.
The name translates to
The Orange Line of the San Diego Trolley connects the city through four stations to the regional transit system. The village center offers shops and services for everyday needs.
Director Allan Dwan filmed over 150 silent movies here in 1911, using the landscape for early cinema production. The area became an important site for the young American film industry during that period.
