The 19-acre park stretches between Jefferson Street and James Robertson Parkway, featuring granite monuments, fountains, and walking paths near the Capitol building.
The park originated in 1985 as a response to preserve Capitol views and opened in 1996 with federal and state funding totaling 30 million dollars.
The Tennessee Map Plaza displays a 200-foot granite map detailing the state geography, cities, counties, rivers, highways, and eight additional thematic areas.
The park contains a 2,000-seat amphitheater for outdoor performances, with guided tours and self-guided exploration options available through the park office.
The Court of Three Stars includes a 95-bell Carillon system representing each county, playing the Tennessee Waltz melody every hour throughout the day.
