Vevay, town in Indiana, United States

Vevay is a small town beside the Ohio River with historic buildings that remain well maintained. The streets show architecture from earlier times, and there are old wineries that reflect its long wine-making tradition.

The town was founded in 1813 by Swiss immigrants who brought grapevines and established the first commercial winery in the United States. The neighboring Switzerland County Courthouse, built between 1862 and 1864, stands as an architectural testament to this founding era.

Vevay was founded by Swiss immigrants, and this heritage shapes community life to this day. The annual Swiss Wine Festival shows how residents celebrate their roots through music, food, and wine tasting.

The town is easy to explore on foot since it is small and well laid out. Markland Dam Park and Paul Ogle Riverfront Park offer picnic areas and open spaces for relaxation.

The Schenck Mansion, once an important historic property, has been home to well-known artist Kat Von D since 2021. This surprising link between modern pop culture and the town's Victorian heritage shows how historic places take on new lives.
