Charlevoix, Administrative division in Michigan, United States.

Charlevoix is a county in Michigan situated between Lake Michigan and Lake Charlevoix, encompassing forests, waterways, and farmland throughout its territory. The region's geography features multiple interconnected lakes connected by man-made channels that shape the local landscape.

The area began as a fishing settlement in the 1850s and became an organized county following the construction of water channels linking the lakes in 1869. These engineered waterways transformed how people moved through and developed the region.

The county maintains multiple departments, courts, and public services while supporting local initiatives through dedicated millage programs and community engagement.

County offices are located at two main sites: the newer Shirley Roloff Center on Division Street and the original downtown building on State Street. Both locations serve the public for administrative services and local government functions.

The administration manages a narrow land corridor between the two lakes that provides access to Beaver Island through waterways. This strategic position links the two major water systems and serves as a gateway to a distant island community.
